Psychological Profile

On the surface, Ensign Leftwich appears to be at peace with herself, perhaps due to the time she has spent around the Vulcan Storil.  While she doesn't exhibit the same amount of emotional control as a Vulcan, some of the emotional detatchment that the Vulcan's are able to produce has apparently rubbed off on the Ensign, which could help improve her reaction time to a crisis situation or prevent her from over-reacting to a personal dilemmas.

Ann still holds some dislike for her step-father, despite the fact that she had never met her biological father. While she claims that the reason for the declining relationship between her and her step-father is because Alexander Royale opposed her entry to Starfleet, it may be more of a subconscious wall that Ann has placed around her Step-father, after discovering he was not her real father. While Mister Royale was the only father Leftwich had known, her mind now sees him as not being her true father.

Ann Leftwich seems to be driven by scientific curiousity; a desire to learn more about the universe around her. She also has a desire to learn more about how technology works, and what keeps things running.

Ensign Leftwich does have a tendancy towards shyness when around other people whom she does not know. She tries not to let that prevent her from getting to know her crewmates better, but it depends on the environment that she has to pursuit that opportunity in.

HISTORY
2352Ann Elizabeth Leftwich is born on October 6, 2352, to Doctor Mary Leftwich at Starfleet Medical. Her father, Commander Jonathan Leftwich, was on a deep-space assignment at the time of her birth. Only fifteen days afterwards, her father is killed in action during a skirmish which resulted in the loss of his vessel. Jonathan Leftwich never had the opportunity to visit his daughter before his death.
2353Mary Leftwich marries Alexander Royale, primarily so that Ann would not grow up without the love and attention that only a father could provide. Royale treats Ann as if she were his own daughter, despite the fact that Mary chooses to have Ann keep her biological father's last name, in memorial of Ann's deceased father.
2357Ann begins her primary education at the local schooling facilities near Starfleet Headquarters.
2363Shortly after Ann enters the sixth grade, Mary and Alexander decide to tell Ann about her true father.  Ann appears to accept the truth at ease, though she begins to drift apart from Royale. Mary begins retelling the adventures of Commander Leftwich to her daughter, so that Ann would know more about her biological father.
2364Ann gets caught up in her school's performing arts program, and learns to play the Trumpet, an upper-range brass instrument. Her mother and Step-father attended every concert the Performing Arts department put on.
2367After hearing stories about how the Enterprise defeated the Borg over Earth after the Battle of Wolf 359, Ann decides that she wants to become an officer in Starfleet. While Mary encourages her daughter to pursuit her dreams, Alexander is less then supportive, citing concern that Ann was the last of her father's line, and that Ann could easily suffer the same fate as her father. Ann enters the Starfleet Prepatory program through her school, to better her odds at being accepted into Starfleet Academy.
2370Ann graduates from the Starfleet Prepatory program at her high school, and applies for admission to Starfleet Academy. Her mother, who still worked at Starfleet Medical, sponsored her application to the Academy, and Ann was accepted. Ann Leftwich enters Starfleet Academy, majoring in Spatial Physics, and minoring in Engineering systems.
2374Leftwich graduates from Starfleet Academy, and is assigned to the USS Roanoke.
2375

Leftwich is transferred to the USS Banshee, NCC-2020-B, as an Engineer, despite her primary training as a Science Officer. This is part of a fleet-wide program to fill in vacancies in criticial positions aboard Starships with science personnel due to the Federation/Dominion War. There she meets Lieutenant Storil, the Chief Engineer of the Banshee, who had also formerally been a science officer.

Shortly after boarding the USS Banshee, the Banshee is recalled by Starfleet Intelligence for a classified mission. During the hiatus, Leftwich and the rest of the Banshee's Engineering department puts in temporary duty aboard the USS Garrett.

After the Banshee returns and the crew is allowed back aboard the Banshee, the Banshee is dispatched on a classified mission. Afterwards, Leftwich and Storil are both transferred to the USS Garrett, to assist with a scientific survey mission to a potential new member world for the United Federation of Planets. The assignment is made permenant with the completion of the survey, and the Garrett is reassigned to the border between Federation and Cardassian Space.

2376The USS Garrett is destroyed in action in a border skirmish near Cardassian Space. The survivors are rescued by the USS Scorpion, and assist with the recovery of the USS Firestorm. Afterwards, the Scorpion returns to Deep Space Nine, where the Garrett survivors are dispatched to Starfleet Headquarters for reassignment. Leftwich is assigned to the USS Firestorm.
